West Virginia 5-Year Consolidated Plan Needs Assessment Survey:  Your response to the community needs assessment survey will help us identify priorities for the use of these funds.The Survey is available until March 23, 2020 HERE

FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES:

Appalachia Funders NetworkCreative Placemaking Opportunity: The Arts & Culture Group of AFN released this  RFP looking for an artist/writer to commission to (1) write 4-6 profiles of projects that integrate arts and culture into their community economic development work, and (2) write 20-30 brief summaries of projects that integrate arts and culture into community economic development work. The RFP includes details of the project. You can also find the posting on the Network’s website, here. The deadline to submit proposals is end of day Monday, November 4.

HAC’s Affordable Housing for Rural Veterans initiative supports local nonprofit housing development organizations that meet or help meet the affordable housing needs of veterans in rural areas. Grants typically range up to $30,000 per organization and must support bricks-and-mortar projects that assist low-income, elderly and/or disabled veterans with home repair and rehab needs, support homeless veterans, help veterans become homeowners and/or secure affordable rental housing. This initiative is funded through the generous support of the Home Depot Foundation. Applications are due November 15 by 5:00 pm Eastern time. From Katy Stigers: Fahe is represented in the current issue of the Journal of Appalachian Health. This new journal focuses on rapid sharing of results and knowledge about health in Appalachia. It is open source/open access so unlike many scholarly publications it is easy to access. The articles are readable for a lay audience, with a peer-review process to ensure quality and rigor.  Check out the table of contents for relevant articles. Initially funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Check out the “Voices from the Hollow section” and share your thoughts!
