Kentucky Member Update April 5, 2019

From Dwain: The Fahe Loan Committee approved $4.395 million dollars in CLS loans to Fahe Members at their 3/21 meeting. The funds will support Neighborhood Housing Services of Birmingham and Eastern Eight CDC as they build affordable housing and will fund the acquisition and operation of Housing Authority of Mingo County’s new residential recovery facility.

Just Transition Fund 2019 Rapid Response Fund­ – accepting proposals immediately, continuing on a rolling basis until November 1, 2019. To apply: Contact Mandy Bridenhagen and send a brief, one-paragraph summary describing what you seek funding for and why. If invited to submit a proposal, we will send your organization a link to a short application form.

ARC POWER INITIATIVE – RFP has been released, Application due April 10

HUDRound 3 YHDP NOFA: Youth Homelessness Demonstration Program is now available. Designed to address systemic responses to youth homelessness and significantly reduce the number of youth experiencing homelessness in up to 25 participating communities (8 of which will be rural). Deadline: Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at 11:59:59 PM EDT  

Webinar hosted by the US Interagency Council on Homelessness: Youth Homelessness Demonstration Program: Strategies for Success – review of the YHDP application and strategies for success. Also covered, what to expect if your community is awarded the grant. April 12, 3-4:30 p.m. ET   Register

USDA-RD will begin accepting the first round of applications for the Rural e-Connectivity Pilot Program (ReConnect Program) on April 23, 2019, through reconnect.usda.gov.

Deadlines are:

  • May 31, 2019, for grants;
  • June 21, 2019, for loan/grant combinations; and
  • July 12, 2019, for low-interest loans.

SNAP Proposed Rule Comment Period Extended through April 10USDA announced today that the comment period for the proposed time limit rules will be re-opened in response to complaints about technical difficulties with the federal register site, USDA announced that they will re-open the comment period from Monday, April 8 through Wednesday, April 10.  The regulations.gov and the federal register sites will accept additional rule comments during this 3 day period.Feeding America and Center for American Progress are also keeping their platforms open for comments through April 10.
