Consumer Financial Protection Bureau: The 2018 list of rural and underserved counties and a separate 2018 list that includes only rural counties have been published and the rural and underserved areas tool have been updated on the website for 2018. The lists and the tool help creditors determine whether a property is located in a rural or underserved area for purposes of applying certain regulatory provisions related to mortgage loans. A creditor that makes a first-lien mortgage loan secured by a property located in a rural or underserved area during 2018 meets the requirements to be a creditor that operates in rural or underserved areas during 2019 and for loan applications received before April 1, 2020.  The 2018 lists can be found here. April is Fair Housing Month! Fahe proudly supports Fair Housing Month.  We feel it’s very important to spread Fair Housing information to ensure that people know their rights and feel empowered to speak up if they face discrimination in housing.

Every year Fahe supplies information on Fair Housing Month to the Membership.  We include documentation on how the Membership can promote Fair Housing within their respective communities and news on local and regional Fair Housing training.

We will be sending out information during March to give adequate time to prepare for April.  If you have any questions or concerns about how to promote Fair Housing, please reach out to Vonda Poynter.

The HOME Coalition is circulating a ‘Dear Colleague’ letter asking the House Transportation, Housing, and Urban Development (THUD) Appropriations Subcommittee to provide at least $1.2 billion in funding for the HOME Program in fiscal year (FY) 2019.  The deadline for Members to sign on to this letter is COB Tuesday, March 13.  There is little time to make sure your Member of Congress voices their support for robust HOME funding in FY 2019, so please contact your Representatives and urge them to sign the letter right away.  To help with your outreach efforts, here is the text of the Dear Colleague letter, and a list of past signatories.
